Part of the firewall evaluation criteria is a
number of tests to be performed on a firewall. These tests focus mainly on
the ability of a firewall to repel many common attacks that a network may
experience, although some benchmarking is done as well. Since the test
environment is small, focused, and in a heavily controlled environment, these
results should not be taken as thorough examination of a firewall's ability to
work as expected under all conditions and configurations. Some measure of
assurance that a small set of basic functions work correctly may be gleaned,
however. Please choose one of the following topics for more information about
the tests.
- Information about the available tests
- A detailed description of the test driver programs and ways to design your own tests.
